I've never really been the type to keep on top of the news or politics until a very influential professor of mine strongly encouraged my class to do so. Read the newspaper, watch the news, follow the headlines etc. Even though it was a geology class he'd throw some questions on tests about recent events and of course I never knew the answers (not that anyone else did either) so I started. I found the stack of newspapers in my school library and occasionally picked on up; I'd flick to the news station while getting some cardio in at the gym and the more I payed attention the more interested I became. The more uncomfortable I feel about world events, particularly Canada's present military operations.
I've always been interested in envirnmental issues; (I'm presently studying environmental geochemistry) but maybe I'm just paranoid but there seems to be some uncomfortable connections between a lot of the major issues that are on the go.
But like I said, I've never been one to be interested in politics. The whole purpose of this journal is for me to keep track of my thoughts and feelings as I attempt to learn more about the world and the wars that are presently going on...
